Fresh Paint Job? Keep it Looking New with These Easy Tips!

There is a good possibility that your car is more than a source of transportation, as for many people it is also a source of pride and joy. However the latter is usually only true if the vehicle is in great condition mechanically and cosmetically! If you want to keep your car or truck looking beautiful as you cruise the streets be sure to think about these easy auto body maintenance tips to avoid dings, dents and scratches!

Park Indoors

If you have the ability to park inside you should take advantage of the situation. Utilizing your garage keeps your car out of the weather for prolonged periods of time, reducing the chances of excessive sun exposure, which can fade paint, hail damage, which can cause numerous dents on your car, or moisture problems, which may cause rust issues.

Avoid Brush

One of the best ways to avoid minor body damage is to be wary of the path you take. With your car, the road more traveled is probably the better option. Overgrown brush or tree branches that stick out onto a road can cause major damage to a vehicle that has an encounter with them.

Parking Lots

The lot at the supermarket is a dangerous place. Shopping carts, cars, kids opening doors, the threats are all too real. To minimize the chances of body damage caused by these sorts of things find a spot in the back of the lot, in a corner if possible. You may have to walk a bit further, but a little exercise never hurt, but shopping carts running into your car sure do.

Wash Correctly

When you wash your car make sure that you use industry approved soaps and washing materials. Don't use kitchen towels and dish soap, as this will lead to tiny scratches and paint swirls. Be sure to rinse your vehicle with plenty of water before you even begin to scrub with a soft mitt to be sure all of the loose dirt and other debris are removed.

Don't Forget to Wax!

Following a wash be sure to wax your vehicle. The wax provides an excellent protection barrier for the paint from all sorts of contaminants. Ask your local auto body shop which wax is right for your car's finish.

It is up to you to keep your vehicle protected from minor auto body damage, and with a little effort and sometimes a little exercise, it shouldn't be too difficult! However if you do find a scratch, ding or dent and need auto body repair in Bend be sure to trust the friendly team at JR's Auto Body and Paint Shop.
